Contributors

Version
VT1.0

Recorded on the 1/12/2025 this session explored five FUNdamental principles for creating well-structured learning in a face-to-face context and provides more than a dozen strategies to promote learner engagement.

Topic

When you make the training fun, the learning process feels practically effortless.

This means your learners stop clock-watching and focus more on the content of your presentation. Further to this, levelling up the fun will increase the participants' interest levels and engagement which will also add to their overall retention of the material.

The renewed focus for creating “engaging, well-structured” training in Standard 1.1 in the revised Standards for RTOs 2025 means trainers (and their RTOs) must be able to justify their training approaches and prove they are both appropriate for the audience and consistent with the needs of the relevant training product/s.

This session explores five (5) FUNdamental principles for creating well-structured learning in a face-to-face context and provides more than a dozen strategies to promote learner engagement.

This includes handy tips on how to set your learning space up for success, as well as ideas for managing timing, encouraging collaboration, building networking opportunities, and debriefing learning activities. Finally, it will provide guidance on how to capture evidence of engagement to support ongoing compliance functions.

What was covered in the session:

  • Identify the five (5) FUNdamentals for creating well-structured and engaging learning.
  • Name five (5) ways to set up your learning space for success
  • Explain three (3) key techniques for managing timing
